Bigger Picture

Heading Into The Lab

All About Your Benjamins was my baby–it was the first outlet for me as a Creator and it has played a major role in the growth of my firm, RLS Wealth, my growth as a financial advisor, building an incredible network of the best advisors and financial professionals you’ve both heard of and haven’t, and unearthed an entrepreneur and Creator inside of me that I didn’t know existed.

As I’ve grown, evolved, and finally found my lane I’ve been writing and creating on other platforms I’ve created–mainly my Daily Notes, my personal website, and PRST, which has left All About Your Benjamins a bit stagnant. I’ve been writing less about traditional financial planning topics and principles and more about the connection of spirit, mind, body, and money and the Pursuit of the authentic life.

I’m not sure I add much value to the financial blogosphere when it comes to traditional financial planning—there are tons of great blogs that address these topics and I’d rather spend my time and energy contributing to finance in the way I feel I can make the greatest impact. When I decided where to do my writing, I made the decision to keep my writing about the Pursuit of the authentic life separate from traditional financial planning, which would allow me to keep All About Your Benjamins going and I’d always have place to write if I felt the need to write about traditional financial planning.

If you were to ask a marketing expert they’d probably tell you I made the wrong decision–I should either shut down All About Your Benjamins or do all of my writing here, regardless of the subject matter.

But that’s not the way my brain works.

I like having a platform to go to for whatever content I feel the need to create–my personal website for my passion and interests at the time. PRST for the pursuit of the authentic life, and All About Your Benjamins for personal finance. And truthfully, shutting down All About Your Benjamins will never be an option–it means to much and I still love it!

I’m not sure what the long term holds for All About Your Benjamins but it will always be a part of me and what I’m doing–I’m guessing as the LifeDesign+ relationship takes off at RLS Wealth I’ll have more to write here pertaining to financial planning.

In the short term, I do know there will continue to be new episodes of The Next Episode with my dad. There will still be Week In Review videos on the All About Your Benjamins YouTube channel. And periodically I might have a blog post that I feel that I need to write about traditional financial planning. I may have more clarity about how All About Your Benjamins fits into my content strategy for the future soon.

I’ve made a decision to “go into the lab” for an extended period of time to really dive into my focus of bringing the authentic life to as many people as possible.

This means I’m cutting back on my podcast, videos, and anything outside of my Daily Notes–including time spent on social media. I’ve already completed training on Transcendental Meditation and I’m taking the Kinder Institute’s EVOKE training in November. I’ve told myself the next year will be dedicated to reading, writing, learning, and growing within my own Pursuit and coming back with a clear and concise message, along with getting the LifeDesign+ relationship off and running at RLS Wealth.

When I exit the lab I’m coming out HAM.

The On Our PRST podcast will be dialed in, my YouTube channel redesigned and easier to navigate, and a clear strategy intertwining my personal website, PRST, and All About Your Benjamins.

If you’ve been following me or this blog for any amount of time, you’ve seen me explore, experiment, and pivot on all types of ideas, opportunities, and versions of my Self. For years it might have looked like I had no idea what I was doing and that I was all over the place, and there might be some truth to that observation, but I always knew that what appeared to be me aimlessly wandering was really me finding my way and where I was supposed to be–if you’ve been reading my Daily Notes I’ve talked about many of the bread crumbs along the way.

I’ve shared my plan with a few close friends and a couple of new people in my life and don’t plan on making a big deal about heading into the lab to get serious about my message, craft, and how I can bring it to my practice with clients, and I’m excited to see the growth that happens when I am dialed in–I’ve never done this before.

When I emerge from the lab for good, you’ll know it.

In the meantime, if you’re interested in pursuing your authentic life (and learning what that even means) I highly recommend signing up for my Daily Notes. Each morning I write a short email that addresses something related to the alignment of spirit, mind, body, and money and the Pursuit of your authentic life.
