We all have a different definitions of success.
In our personal lives, success might be finding that elusive work/life balance, putting our children through college without the burden of student loans, annual travel, or reaching retirement at a specific age.
In our professional lives, in particular, financial advisors, success might be $1 billion in AUM, it might be a lifestyle practice that feeds into your personal definition of success, or a speaking career to supplement your financial planning.
Mike Molitoris, CRPC® of Flagship Wealth Management Group joined me today on his way to Dayton, Ohio to record an episode of Talkin’ Shop. Before we recorded we had come coffee and caught up and we started down a conversation about success and it was obvious what our topic for the video would be. This ended up being a great conversation and one that I hope resonates with a lot of people.
A couple of quick takeaways:
- Individuals: determine your definition of success for your family and align your financial plan to match it. Success will be heavily influenced by your values.
- Financial Advisors: AUM does not determine success.
If you’re an advisor and will be passing through the Indianapolis area, hit me up on Twitter and I’d love to have you swing by for another episode of Talkin’ Shop…you might want to be prepared to grab a workout as well!
